Changing health plans
Changing plans can be easy. If you have questions, call 1-877-552-4642, and ask an enrollment counselor for help.
Here's how to change plans and doctors:
Changing plans in the first 90 days
If you have been enrolled in your health plan for less than 90 days, you can change your plan. Call 1-877-552-4642 to speak with an enrollment counselor to switch by phone.
Changing plans after the first 90 days
If you have been enrolled in your health plan for more than 90 days, you must fill out a form if you want to change health plans. On the form you can show your reason why you want to change. Some reasons are:
- Can't get covered services
- Got poor quality care
- Not enough providers in the plan
- Moved out of area
- Can't get needed services in the plan
- Want to be in the same plan as family members
- Plan does not cover certain services because of moral or religious reasons
Call 1-877-552-4642 to ask for a form to be sent to you. After you fax or mail the form back, it will be reviewed by the South Carolina Medicaid agency, and you will get an answer within 60 days of the time your form is received.
Changing plans after one year
After each year you are in Medicaid, you can join a plan or change plans. You will get a packet in the mail that tells you how to choose a plan and how to enroll.

To choose or change doctors after you have enrolled in a plan, call the plan. See a list of plans and phone numbers.
To find a list of doctors to choose from, go to Find a doctor. You can search for doctors by county, Zip code, medical specialty, or doctor's name.
