Blog:Important Deadlines
There are several important deadlines you'll want to know about in South Carolina Healthy Connections Choices. Remembering when they are and what they are for will help you get and keep your Medicaid health services.
Enrollment means signing up for (or joining). When you enroll in a health plan, you sign up for the plan and become part of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Choices program.
We're here to remind you about three major enrollment deadlines, so that you can make the most of your Medicaid plan.
The first major deadline that you'll hit will be at the end of the first 30 days. This is known as the "initial enrollment period" which is just a fancy way of saying that you've qualified for Medicaid and must make some important choices about how you'll get your Medicaid services. During this 30 days, you need to be sure to enroll in and choose a health plan. Please make every effort to choose the right one for you and your family. We are not going to let you go without health care, so if you do not choose by the end of 30 days, we will choose one for you.
The second major deadline comes after you enroll in a plan. The first 90 days after you enroll in a plan is known as the "choice period." This is the time for you to make sure the plan you've chosen is the right fit for you and your family. During this 90-day "choice period" you can choose another plan if you want to change.
The last deadline is also very important; it's your "one-year anniversary" after enrolling. Every enrollment lasts one calendar year (twelve months from your date of enrollment). That means after a year, you need to be sure to sign up with Healthy Connections Choices all over again. Don't worry! We'll send you a letter to remind you of your renewal date.
