When you join a health plan through SC Choices, you are getting a complete package of care.
First, when you use a health plan, you get the very same Medicaid health services you've always had.
Next, you get to know your doctor and other providers over time -- because you'll go to those doctors for all of your health care. You will see them when you are healthy and when you are sick, and they will know you and take care of you the way you need.
Your doctor will keep track of your health records, and you do not need to fill out paper work every time you go to an appointment. At a health plan, someone always answers the phone (even on nights and weekends) and providers are always there for you.
Some health plans also have other extra benefits! Check with the health plans to see if they have extra services such as asthma and diabetes management programs or even dental care and eye checkups.
When you are in a health plan, your primary care provider (doctor) can help you find other doctors -- such as specialists -- if you need them.
